Tripwire Pick: Break Bread (Los Angeles, USA)

Trippers, forget starters and mains. It’s time to skip straight to dessert.

This 7,000 Square ft Cake Maze and candied urban block party, Break Bread Los Angeles, is only open for two more days. The frosted ghetto is the brain child of artists Scott Hove and Baker’s Son; and comes with a slice of darkness.

The installation seamlessly brings together good and evil; all mixed up with a hip-hop soundtrack and sweet treats delicately positioned from the windows to the walls. Naughty and nice. Check it.

Tripwire is now live on the App Store – http://apple.co/24QDwTo download for more sweetness.

Some like it hot. Cleanse your moments of travesty and buffoonery while watching Buddhist priests sprint through their temples waving huge pine torches. It is said if you’re touched by one of the fire sparks, you will be protected from all evil.

Red, red wine. Stay close to me. Argentina’s biggest vino party is currently in full flow at the foot of the Andes. The one and only National Grape Harvest (Feb 28 – Mar 8), a must for thirsty backpackers.

Endless rows of empty wine bottles, jubilant Argentinians and parades gather to see which of the 18 Mendoza provinces will be named ‘Harvest Queen’. It all culminates with a Cirque do Soleil style grande finale which draws in crowds of over 70,000.

If you can’t score a ticket, the whole performance is shown on the big screen at the Plaza Italia which is flooded with backpackers in downtown Mendoza. Fine wining.

This has been a few months in the making and we are excited to finally announce that we are now officially part of Tripwire‘s ambassadorship program. They call us Trippers.

    How cool is that?

Well, you’re probably thinking “What in the world is TripWire?” And we’ll get to that in a bit.

We first heard about Tripwire, well just about the same time we started our blog about 6 months ago. Their Instagram account popped up in our feed and they were looking for ambassadors to boot up this travel startup brand. We were just as curious as you are right now.

At the time, they hadn’t launched anything. No website. No app. So we were in the dark for a few days till we got an email from their COO, Stewart Chan. We quickly set up a Skype call that was minutes before we had to go to bed so we could wake up for our early morning trip to Ko Tao. He seemed to like that we were based in Bangkok and that we shared similar interests, passions and were at similar stages in setting up our brand.

    What is TripWire?

“Forget what you know about the normal and boring way of backpacking and keep an eye out for Tripwire!”

Tripwire is a new and exciting upcoming app that is way more than just your average backpacking app – it is an online community and beyond. Tripwire will change everything you know of how you go and discover new things and inspirations, how you connect with other like-minded backpackers, and how you collect and record memories and share them with the world.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to be a partner with Tripwire and got to have a first-hand on experience with the app. Here are some of the many features I really love about Tripwire that I think make Tripwire so special.

In the Media: “Tripwire – The Next Big Thing In Travel Tech”

backpacker, backpacking, tripwire, backpacker, backpacking, tripwire. backpacker, backpacking, tripwire

We have entered a new age of backpacking just over the past few years. Suddenly, technology is as important to a backpacker as a safe place to sleep is. Wi-Fi is now accessible almost everywhere, and backpackers can now broadcast their lives digitally. Because of this, there has been an explosion of digital nomads, viral Instagram accounts, travel bloggers, and GoPros on selfie sticks. I would like to introduce to you what I hope is the next big thing in travel technology: Tripwire.

Tripwire is an up and coming smartphone travel app to be released on February 26th. It has a multitude of features that are specific to backpackers looking for things to do locally in each new city as well as connect with each other to share tips, ask questions, post secrets, and even meet up.

In the Media: “Tripwire: A Travel App You Can’t Live Without”

If you follow me on my social media sites, you might’ve noticed some new hashtags, pictures and logos circling around those spaces and the time has finally come to reveal the full glory behind the name TRIPWIRE.

So what is this TRIPWIRE thing you ask? Let me start from the beginning.

A few months ago I got in touch with a group of very smart, forward-thinking guys who happen to share my love for travelling. They’ve come up with TRIPWIRE after having a great time on their South American tour where they realized there are some major things missing in the travel tools world that should help travelers when it comes to visiting places you’ve never been to before. And so the idea of this awesome APP was born.
